1995

First printed light extraction pattern created. This innovation initiated the development of solidstate light guide manufacturing.

1997

MicroLens light extraction technology invented. This innovation allowed for the light extraction pattern to be created within an injection mold, enabling higher volume output and lower cost as well as brighter end products.

2000

Global Lighting Technologies Inc. formed. This resulted in the merging of optical design and extraction technology with manufacturing facilities in Asia to create a company positioned for growth and expansion in the low cost, high volume light guide market.

2008

Thermal embossing process developed. This enabled thin film light guides to be created for use within new thin portable and tablet devices.

GLT Suzhou factory opened in China.

2011

Global Lighting Technologies Inc. announced its initial public offering.

Extrusion embossing process developed. These larger, thinner light guides were quickly adopted by the LCD TV and general lighting industries.

Zhongshan factory opened in China.

Tongluo factory opened in Taiwan.

Thin film extrusion process developed. This innovative manufacturing process led to light guides with tapered entrance regions for increased efficiencies.
