MicroLens™ molded light guides are ideal for backlighting small format color and monochrome small format displays of 2.5 inches diagonal or less. Applications include cell phones, PDAs, MP3 players, ultra-personal computers, handheld meters, medical diagnostic devices, thermostats, GPS displays and more – all the way down to micro displays such as those found in the electronic viewfinders (EVFs) on digital camera and camcorders.

MicroLens™ WHITE LED BACKLIGHTING

GLT’s White LED Molded Light Guides can be custom designed in a range of sizes from 1” to 2.5” diagonal. A typical 1” GLT White LED molded light, e.g., guide can use 3 white LEDs and offer a brightness level of 6300 nits (cd/m²), with an exceptional uniformity of 91%. (Typically, uniformity of 70% and higher is considered acceptable for high-volume production programs.) A typical GLT 1.5” diagonal White LED light guide can use two white LEDs and offer a brightness of 3500 nits, with 83% uniformity. A typical GLT 1.8” diagonal White LED Molded Light Guide can use 3 LEDs and offer a brightness of 4000 nits, with 88% uniformity. Package sizes range from only 0.65 mm to 1 mm thick, the thinnest available in the industry.

UniLED™ SINGLE-LED MOLDED BACKLIGHTS

UniLEDs provide high brightness backlighting with a single high-output LED for a range of portable devices that utilize smaller size LCDs. Colors available include green, yellow-green, blue, white, amber, orange, red or any other commercially available LED color. Pricing varies with design, LED color and part geometry. TRI-COLOR MOLDED BACKLIGHTS

These backlights offer higher, more consistent brightness in different color modes. They're ideal for small to mid-size displays that use different colors to convey information (e.g., warnings, menu options, urgent incoming calls). These molded light guides utilize three chips to combine red, green and blue in the proper proportions to yield the colors desired.

A single multi-functional MicroLens™ panel can can provide an LCD keypad or logo with mechanical support as well as high-performance backlighting.
