models which enable the electronic introduction of an LED
or CCFL light source into a virtual model of the proposed
part. Virtual design tools then develop irradiance mapping
of the potential backlight. This data is a significant tool
in initiating the design process since it identifies where
the light has to be extracted to achieve the desired brightness
and uniformity.
