Global Lighting Technologies, Inc., will be featuring new MicroLens high-brightness white LED backlights for color portable/handheld device displays at Booth 420. One will be a color cell phone backlight with an output display area measuring 30 mm wide x 22 mm high and a thickness of only 0.8 mm. It has a luminance of 3200 cd/m² and utilizes only 2 high-brightness white LEDs @ 15 mA each, making it extremely cost-effective. Pricing is dependent on final construction; contact GLT for details.

GLT will also be showing a new color PDA backlight with >2000 cd/m² luminance that utilizes 4 white LED backlights for an output display area of 45 mm square. GLT will also be exhibiting larger LED backlights for handheld personal computers that are only 1 mm thick and utilize 8 white LEDs for backlighting screens up to 5" (127 mm) diagonal in size. Luminance is 800 cd/m², with full VGA color, and the backlight measures 118 mm wide x 66 mm high.
