Technical Sales Manager

Job Description

Responsible for GLT U.S. Sales activities within assigned territory including: project management, providing quotations, developing new customers, and adding new applications at existing customers. Travel will be required for servicing and expanding of customer base, and can be up to 25% of the time. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the V.P. of Sales.  GLT provides custom designed customer specific product so a strong mechanical aptitude is a plus as sales path is direct to Engineers.


The primary responsibilities of the job include :

Must have the ability to quickly grasp the technical aspects of GLT products and designs.

Must be well organized and have a background using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other commonly-used software programs.

Work with Sales V.P. to provide project management support to ensure that our customer’s expectations are understood, negotiated, and met.

Primarily responsible for selling GLT products through phone, in-person meetings, and presentations with customers and sales representatives to achieve/exceed annual sales forecast.

Must be professional and have a polished “presence” when dealing directly with customers.

Quote part pricing, tooling, and NRE based upon known and estimated costs. Review all quotes with V.P. of Sales, and General Manager.

Negotiate pricing to maximize GLT profit margins, while satisfying the customers’ expectations.

Must be proficient in developing relationships at key customer accounts.

Communicate with customers, sales representatives on order status, issues, and problems.

Coordinate trade show preparation, trade show activities, and participate in sales seminars as needed.

Accurately forecast volume and revenue for all territorial customers.

Participate in weekly sales/engineering meetings to assure that all projects are moving forward and that all related customers are up to date on the current status of their applications.

Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish departmental objectives.

Supervised by V.P. of Sales

Desired Education, Skills, and Experience

2-5 years previous technical sales experience.

Technical degree or strong technical background in electronics or engineering preferred.
